SEG: VIABL
Visual Impairment & Blindness Services or VIABL, started serving the blind and visually impaired in 1928. At that time, the organization was known as Northampton County Association for the Blind. It was founded by Lions Club members at the urging of the famous inspirational deaf-blind teacher, Helen Keller. The agency has grown and serves more than 1,000 blind and visually impaired children and adults with services and programs designed to foster independence in the course of a year. Other services include the Eye Care Clinic, free vision screenings for children. VIABL Headquarters is located at 260 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem. VIABL also operates an office in Monroe County VIABL became a Select Employee Group of the Bethlehem Teachers Federal Credit Union in 1975, when it was known as PA Association for the Blind.
