Scambusters: Summer Smishing

Members of Credit Unions across the country have received phony text messages claiming to be from their credit union. The message indicates it is from Credit Union Services and advises members to call a number to have their card reactivated.

This is a scam that tricks members into giving credit and/or debit card information to fraudsters. and release their account information.

Remember…

The Credit Union will never call, e-mail or text members asking for account information or PINs.
Always be cautious of any communications regarding your personal information.
If you receive a text message, always verify that it is legitimate by calling a trusted number.
If you have questions about a text message that claims to come from BTFCU, call us at 610-691-0041 or email us at service@btcu.org.
