SEG: Sayre Child Center

Sayre Child Center logo

Sayre Child Center, located at 349 Hamilton Avenue in Bethlehem, provides quality care and educational programs to over 130 children per day. Child care programs are available to children six weeks through nine years which includes onsite Kindergarten and before and after school care.

Founded in 1899 by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sayre, Sayre Child Center was originally called the Cecil Sayre Day Nursery. The nursery was named in memory of Cecil B. Sayre, their son. The center was originally located on Birch Street in Bethlehem with the purpose of providing custodial care for children of indigent and widowed women so they could work and maintain their homes.

The current name, Sayre Child Center, was adopted in 1963. The center has 40 employees. The average tenure of the dedicated staff members at Sayre is over 10 years.

Sayre Child Center became a Select Employee Group of the Bethlehem Teachers Federal Credit Union in 1975.

For more information on the Sayre Child Center visit them at www.sayrechildcenter.org.
