Bethlehem Municipal Employees FCU Merger
to Bethlehem Municipal Employees:
If you are a former Bethlehem Municipal Employees FCU (BMEFCU) member and have received a letter regarding your pension direct deposit, please note that the letter contains some inaccurate information.
Bethlehem Municipal Employees FCU is NOT closing.
As you know, BMEFCU has merged into Bethlehem Teachers Federal Credit Union so that it could become stronger and continue to do business with its valuable members.
We have been made aware that the Philadelphia Trust Company contacted members regarding their pension direct deposit. We did not initiate this action and are attempting to have this situation corrected.
If you are a retiree whose City of Bethlehem pension direct deposit was erroneously discontinued, you may have already been contacted via phone or letter by Philadelphia Trust to correct this issue. If you have not yet been in contact with them, you should call 610-865-8459 and direct them to reinstate your pension back to its original arrangement.
We want to assure you that as a recipient of a municipal pension, we welcome your direct deposit and we are happy to business with you. We encourage you to continue with your direct deposit.
We are pleased to report that the data processing conversion is progressing smoothly. We are still on target for a September 1, 2013 conversion date.
Some transitional changes that members will notice are as follows:
- Loan Processing is now being handled by the Easton Avenue Office. Former Bethlehem Municipal Employees FCU members can choose to sign their documents at either the New Street or Easton Avenue Location. Your loan officer will ensure that you have the necessary paperwork for your loan closing.
- Expanded hours are coming to the New Street location! You will enjoy the same convenient 9:00 am opening hours that are in place at the Easton Avenue location. Effective July 1, 2013, the New Street and Easton Avenue Offices will operate with these hours:
- Monday through Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Easton Avenue will continue to offer late closing on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
